In 2018, my wife and I bought a house and had our first baby. We moved in to the home and had the baby a week later. Even though the house looked move-in ready we quickly discovered lots of problems while trying to renovate the baby’s room. Being long term renter’s meant we had little repair experience and with a new baby and a new mortgage, we needed to learn to fix things ourselves. After a few cycles of fixing something only to find something else broken, I decided to begin documenting some of it for fun and to look back on how we progressed.
This site and our our YouTube channel are meant to inspire and prove that even with no previous experience (I am not an expert on any of this) lots of seemingly difficult home improvement projects and repairs can be done yourself. We are not professionals though, so please take everything on this site for entertainment value only. Always thoroughly research any project yourself and make sure you are comfortable with it before starting.
There is also nothing wrong with hiring a professional – it is not the same as asking for directions. We have done that ourselves regularly. Just make sure if you leave your tools around the house when they come by you have a cool project you finished yourself to show off.
